There aren’t too many merchants that I’ve come across who don’t take credit cards for purchases. With our fast-paced society, we’ve become accustomed to getting what we want with as little hassle as possible. So it stands to reason why credit cards have become such a mainstay in our everyday business transactions.
But for businesses to accept those types of transactions, they have to have a merchant account. This opens the door to a world of choices, some of which are based on the way they do business. And the business to provide them with these choices is First Data.
For example, there are several types of merchant accounts to choose from: retail, ecommerce, restaurant, phone/mail order, to name a few. Brick and mortar stores are going to need credit card machines. Restaurants will need them for sure, but because they run a different kind of business than, say, a donut shop, their needs are going to be different. Not only does First Data help merchants with businesses with these choices and more, but they also tailor their rates according to the business they are helping to establish an account for.
By comparison, an ecommerce merchant will require a whole different set of needs: credit card processing online, accept checks online, recurring billing, fraud and risk protection, shopping cart integration and others. This may sound overwhelming to even mature merchants, but with the 20 years of experience First Data has, they can make short work of it all.
