Are we in the Orwellian Age? You now the 1984 reference where Big Brother is watching our every move. With the advancements we have in technology today, it’s easy to think that what with the satellite photography and the abilty to track objects, animals, and even people by implanting a chip on them.
GPS Tracking does have its advantage, but it most certainly can be used for evil purposes. On the one hand, I like the benefits it brings when it mean I can have my package tracked so I know when to be home to make sure I get it from the postman. But on the other hand, who else is keeping tabs on you or me? That’s what troubles me most.
I draw the line at implanting the rice grain sized chip in pets in case they wander off. But I’ve read before where people are choosing to implant these GPS Tracking devices in themselves and children. On the surface, I can see the logic, but seriously, is this a good idea?
I could think of some better uses of GPS Tracking technology that would serve to help me find my car keys or cell phone. But people?
What do you think?

Like any other technology. GPS tracking can also be used for both the good and evil purposes. It’s all about how you use or apply this latest technology. Surely, in some cases it can be used against one’s privacy, but you can’t stop this technological advancement just because of a few disadvantages.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
The same reasoning you have can be applied to many things we struggle with today. Guns, for example. Fire. All have pros and cons. GPS, on the other hand, is unique in that it “attacks” a side of our lives we, as a society, hold just as precious as life, and that’s our privacy.
