Chores And Allowance: A Parent’s Blog

Written on October 9, 2007 – 10:00 am

Since parenting came without a manual, we have to rely on our friends, parents, books, blogs, and good old fashion common sense. One thing parents will face sooner or later when raising their children will involve chores and receiving an allowance. A blog called Chores & Allowances can help.

First, let me just say that I think it’s great to find another daddy blogger as we hear so often about the mommy bloggers. Nothing wrong with that, of course, just nice to know there are more concerned fathers like myself out there banging away on the keyboard trying to make a difference. So let’s hear it for the daddy bloggers!

Chores & Allowances helps parents teach their children about being financial responsible — not creating a portfolio, but just becoming aware of what it means to earn money and spend it wisely. The flip side to that is the chore part — what the child has to do in order to feel good about themselves and their accomplishments along with what it means to be responsible.

I can’t wait for the post about how to make your kids be happy about doing chores as mine always groan and procrastinate before doing their’s. :)

As for the financial side of things, the author draws from his 13 years of industry experience, which is evident by him founding sites such as bills.com, PAYjr, and PayAction, just to name a few.

He writes openly and casually, which is something I find appealing in my everyday reads. Take a moment to visit him, won’t you?
