Finding Cheap Flights

Saturday, July 5th, 2008 |

With the rising cost of gasoline, many families are feeling the pinch in their wallets. And to make the situation more complex, some airlines are passing along their pain to the consumer by charging for check-in baggage. Consumers are having to consider whether it’s cheaper to drive where they want to go as opposed to flying there, so they need all the help they can get.

Using sites like ShermansTravel can help travelers find cheap flights by providing them with tons of choices. And like any worhty travel service, they also provide information on package deals that include hotel and car rental. Want to go on a cruise? Yep, you can find that here as well.

So maybe that trip you wanted to plan with the family can be put back on your list of things to do this summer.

Hotels In Las Vegas

Sunday, June 29th, 2008 |

Las Vegas looks like a great place to visit. I’m told it’s like Disneyland for grown-ups, but there seems to be plenty to do for kids, too (besides, Disneyland is just as much for grown-ups as it is for kids).

Anyway, because it’s such a tourist attraction, there is no shortage of hotels in Las Vegas, and if they look anything on the inside as they do on the outside, then I would think they’re all pretty spectacular.

With 25,000 unique visitors per day, I’d say that i4vegas.com has what it takes to find you something to fit your budget and your tastes. If you have a hotel in mind, then you’re likely to find it in the right nav. If not, no worries, just select the time range of your stay and it will show you available hotels.

Beach Front Properties To Rent By The Week

Saturday, June 28th, 2008 |

Summertime’s here and that’s when many families venture out to get a little R&R. Maybe it’s to some popular destination or perhaps a secluded spot away from all the chaos.

The folks at Outer Banks rentals have some really nice places to spend some down time. These aren’t hotels we’re talking about here. No, these places are homes that you can rent at weekly rates, fully furnished and near the beach. Very nice!

Normally, when you find sites that show rental properties, you’re overwhelmed with ads and clutter. Not this site. It’s so easy to find properties and all of them have professionally made photos for each place so you know what you’re going to find when you get there.

Orlando Vacations

Monday, May 26th, 2008 |

It seems like yesterday that I took my family to visit Disney World. But it was actually two years ago. Even before I had kids — heck, when I was a kid myself — I had always wanted to take my family there and start memories of our own.

I remember when I was planning that family trip of mine, I had scoured the Web for any deal I could find because I wanted my dollars to stretch as far as they could. Planning Orlando vacations doesn’t have to be a chore when you know where to look. The key is to search as much as you can online, take good notes, ask friends who have gone before you and see what they recommend in the way of transportation, attractions, and places to eat and sleep.

That place is so much fun. If you do plan a trip there, I highly recommend adding a day or two to whatever time you’re thinking of staying. That way you don’t have to feel rushed to see everything in a short time frame.

Branson: A Place For Family Entertainment

Branson: A Place For Family EntertainmentOver the past few years, I’ve heard things about Branson, Missouri as being quite an entertaining place for families. Home to world-class attractions and shows, it has become known as the “live music capital of the world”.

Visitors have a huge selection of shows, theme parks, and attractions that sure to fit anyone’s taste and budget. And when I say “huge”, I mean it. Just look at the list of shows. They have the talented and unmistakable voice of Andy Williams who has brought joy to generations over the years. He’s still performing his Christmas act, which for me, I think he’s the most well-known for. But that’s for another post.

Branson: A Place For Family EntertainmentYou’ll also find tons of variety shows delivering music, magic, and skits. And their theme park is going to be a hit with the kids, too. Silver Dollar City is a great place to get away. I even visited there once as a kid many moons ago. It has a 19th century theme, but modern day rides and shows to keep everyone wondering where the time went at the end of the day.

Finding a place to stay may be difficult so you’ll want to schedule way in advance. The reason is that they have very nice places to spend your time resting from all the fun you’ll have in Branson.

Cheap Flights With cFares.com

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008 |

I imagine that not too many people call up an airline directly to make a reservation any more, especially if they’re cost conscious. With options like cFares.com to help them find the most affordable tickets online, it’s really in their best interest when looking for a cheap flight.

cFares.com is an airfare search engine that compares prices from airlines, industry wholesalers, and major travel sites. They’re different because they offer exclusive travel deals that are below-market prices.

Cheap Flights With cFares.com

Two types of membership are offered: Gold (which is free) and Platinum (which is $50 per year). The Gold plan allows you to see what your rate would be along with what a Platinum member would see. The incentive, of course, is to get you to upgrade, which at $50 a year is not bad, especially if you travel a lot. I’d even say that the savings you’d get with your first purchase or two would more than cover the membership fee.

Their abilty to provide great fares has caused them to be referred to as a “Costco for fares”. The search panel on the left of their site gives you the ability to compare results from three major travel sites: Orbitz, Hotwire, or Cheapoair.

Selecting at least two of these sites will show you the results side-by-side in their own browser windows. Then you can take a look at cFares to see what they have to offer you.

My results showed CheapoAir as having the lower prices, BUT they were for airlines I don’t think I’d feel comfortable flying on anyway. And the prices that cFares offered were still cheaper than HotWire, even as a Gold (free) member.

I read one of the FAQs and was delighted to see that they’re honest. When asked if they will always have the cheapest fares, they state that no one can make that guarantee.

cFares.com is something I’ll be looking into the next time I make travel plans. Give them a try and see what I mean.
