Frog Soap That Washes Away Fat?
Monday, March 31st, 2008 |Could this be the breakthrough millions of dieters have been looking for?
European scientists have formulated a bar of soap that, according to their tests, can cause people to lose weight. The ingredient responsible for this was found in the most unlikely of places — the Blue-Legged frog.
This type of frog was thought to be extinct, but researchers uncovered a thriving community in the southern-most tip of the Amazon jungle.
Villagers revealed to these researchers how the fat-buster frogs were discovered. In the mid-1950s, the story goes, a young woman who had fought obesity all her life was walking along a river the day before she was to wed. Feeling tired, she decided to sit down to rest before heading back to her village and prepare for the festivities that evening.
As it turned out, she didn’t wake up until the next morning, when she was discovered by her family lying by a bush. To their astonishment, she looked as though she had lost a considerable amount of weight. It was speculated that the surrounding frogs had laid atop the exposed skin of her thighs in an effort to keep warm during the evening.
About a dozen of these Blue-Legged frogs were shipped to the laboratories of a well-known cosmetic manufacturer, McQueen Industries, where their secret could be explained. The poison secreted by these frogs is indeed poisonous, but only if swallowed. But as the poison is absorbed through brown skin, which is what the majority of these villagers have, fat cells are dissolved. It didn’t take scientists long to modify the DNA of this secretion to make it safe for skin of all colors.
But is it really safe?
A scientist, Dr. Aaron Cook, expressed his concern over what this new discovery could mean. “Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a super find and it can help so many people. But in the wrong hands, it could be devastating.”
Dr. Cook went on to say that fashion models are in a high-risk category due to their insatiable need to lose weight. I’d have to agree with him. Just take a look at these before and after photos of one model who clearly didn’t know when to stop bathing with the soap.
I find this very disturbing. Thank goodness something like this only happens on April Fool’s Day. ![]()
