A Darn Good Look at Prince of Wall Street

A Darn Good Look at Prince of Wall StreetI really like the name of this blog: Prince of Wall Street. It’s quite fitting of the author because by his own admission he’s a senior at college waiting to land his first full-time job as an investment banking analyst. It tells me that he has his sights set high and he’s raring to go.

Prince of Wall Street came onto the scene in January of 2007. It’s a blog about, you guessed it: finance. More specifically, it’s about news in the finance industry, gossip, and commentary.

I like that the prince keeps the theme going throughout his blog as he refers to himself as, well, “the prince”, and his readers as his “royal subjects”. It’s all done in good taste and brings out character, and a blog with character is sure to stand out more than one that doesn’t.

The prince has a writing style that is easy-going and makes a topic like finance more interesting to someone like me who doesn’t follow such matters. It’s also clear that he doesn’t just read the headlines from other sources and types a few words on his blog. No, he clearly puts thought into his posts and does it in such a way that allows his enjoyment of the finance industry to shine through.

A little constructive criticism:

  • Unless the Google and Yahoo ads are bringing in the dough, I recommend dropping a few. Perhaps have just one next to titles of your posts.
  • Sidebar is a tad bit long.
  • There’s a wealth of information on the home page, but it was difficult to follow. I would recommend cutting back a bit on the “asides” or better yet, just make them posts.

One post in particular I found enlightening as to the goings-on of the recent mortgage crisis we’ve been hearing in the news lately. In Speculation and Fraud in Mortgages? A Blind Eye., the prince gives us an under-the-hood look as to what brought the industry and the families affected to the mess they’re in now.

If you’re a casual observer of financial news or someone who just can’t get enough, the Prince of Wall Street is sure to deliver information in a no-holds-barred way. Take a moment to check out his blog.
