A Darn Good Look At Elite By Design
Few blogs about design have what I think to be good design. All too often they try to be more than their specialty: design. But I think Elite by Design is different.
Brian is the owner and founder of this designing community which made its way into the blogosphere in November of 2007. The genesis behind this blog was to help readers with getting their blogs off to a good start.
The About page is one of the best I’ve seen. It clearly defines the blog’s purpose, who’s running it behind the scenes, and most importantly, what you can expect to gain by becoming a subscriber.

Within its clean layout, Elite by Design offers blogging tips, serves as a resource for Photoshop freebies, becoming a freelancer, and help getting noticed online. It also provides Brian with a way to advertise his design services which include logo design, custom WordPress themes and templates, business cards, and more.
It’s apparent that Brian knows where to go to find great resources for things like vector graphics. As his post 24 Perfect Photoshop Vectors shows, designers who crave vector-based goodness will no doubt find something to help quench their appetite.
And no matter what niche you’re in, how-to posts are incredibly valuable to readers when done well. And Brian does them well. His Designing A Sleek, Transparent Navigation is an excellent example of how-to posts, complete with screenshots and easy-to-understand commentary. Good job!
For those looking to improve their blogs, you’ll want to read Top Bloggers Don’t Think. At first glance the title may seem unusual, but as you read it, you’ll appreciate the logic behind it. I, for one, will take his advice and integrate it into the way I write.
It’s usually at this point that I offer some constructive criticisms, but honestly, I can’t think of any. Elite by Design not only is pleasing to the eye, but the content will feel good on your brain. I recommend subscribing to it and see for yourself.
